Miss Nancy or Mrs. Shelley taught high school mathematics for 48 years. Most of her teaching years were spent at Scotland High School, where she loved Fighting Scots football, basketball and baseball games. Mrs. Shelley loved all sports and marching band activities at the high school. Some people would say she might even bleed that Scottish plaid. Mrs. Shelley loved two churches, Laurel Hill Methodist and First United Methodist Church, where she worshipped and served the Lord. She was active on countless committees, worship teams and with children and youth. She especially loved serving Emmaus and Epiphany ministries.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Marvin Shelley of the home; her son, Jeffery Dawson Shelley, also of the home; her daughter, Janna Shelley Williams and her husband Jerry of Laurel Hill; sisters, Sara Jackson Thomas of Richmond, VA and Ann Jackson Hagelberger of Fayetteville, NC:  and her grandchildren, Jessica Shelley of Wilmington, Erin Shelley, Dawson Shelley, Richard “RD” Wegner and Sallie Wegner, all of Laurel Hill.
