Woody Harold Maness born October 25, 1958 in Montgomery County to the late Bill and Patsy Maness.
There will be a visitation on Monday, May 15, 2023 from 12:30- 2:00 at the First Wesleyan Church with a graveside service to follow at the church cemetery at 2:00 pm officiated, by Pastor Chip McCauley and Dr. Ed Lindsey.
Woody lived a happy Life, full of adventure. From motorcycle rides across country with his wife Barbara, to fishing on Tillery or wherever the fish were biting. Woody graduated from West Montgomery High School in 1977. He worked for years at Montgomery Garbage/Burgess Maness Industrial Waste and also Countywide Waste Service. He owned and operated Napa Auto Parts in Mt. Gilead and later he worked at Friendly Chevrolet. During his time, he was top in sales.
He was the first fire chief at Lake Tillery Fire Department where he served as chief for 10 years. He was also a member of the Montgomery Bass Masters Fishing Club.
Woody loved collecting old cars with his brother Billy. His prized possession is a 1965 Impala Convertible. He enjoyed going to car auctions and car shows. Woody could strike up a conversation with anyone; he had many friends, old and new.
He loved his wife Barbara (DeBerry) and has been married to her for 38 years. She has been a devoted wife and caregiver.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Bill and Patsy Maness. He is survived by his wife, Barbara of the home; brother, Billy Maness (Carla) of Troy; stepdaughter, Cathy Shields (Daniel) of Owens Cross Road, Alabama; grandkids, Gabe Stevens (Morgan) of Greensboro, Rian Sharpe (Greg) of Texas; and two great grandkids, Teddy and Brooks. He had many nieces and nephews, John and Matt DeBerry, Aimee Auman, and Brittany and Roston Maness.
