Winfred Harvell, 90, passed away Friday, August 4, 2023.

Born on December 20, 1932, in Montgomery County, he was the son of the late Jesse Lee and Lena Kinney Harvell. Winfred served in the US Navy during the Korean War. He spent most of his life in the upholstery business, including employment with the Hatteras Yacht Company, which he retired from. He operated the last shoe repair shop in downtown Troy. He also built seats for the coal mines in Virginia and covers for golf carts while living at Twin Harbors.
Winfred is survived by his wife, Betty D. Smith, of the home; daughter, Sandra Park of Asheboro; sons, Donald Eugene Harvell of Troy and Winfred Lee Harvell of Asheboro; sister, Ruth Yates of Jamestown; sister-in-law, Hazel Harvell of Asheboro; and step-children, Edward Smith, Dennis Smith, Perry Smith, and Christel White.
