Obituary

William "Bill" Stone, 84, passed away May 17, 2023, in Montgomery County.

Services to be announced at a later date.

Born on September 5, 1938, in Troup County, Georgia to the late James William and Nina Ruth Hamer Stone.  A proud veteran, Bill served in the US Army with honor and distinction. After completing his military service, he went on to work at Ford Motor Company, where he retired after many years of dedicated service. Bill's love for the outdoors was a defining aspect of his life. He enjoyed camping and fishing. His passion for all things Ford was evident in his collection of memorabilia and his knowledge of the company's history. Bill also found much joy in working in his yard. Bill's love for his pets was undeniable, as evidenced by his devotion to his little dogs, Boo Boo and Buddy.

He is survived by his military family Nancy Sweat Mock, Shirley Sweat Taylor, Debbie Sweat Smith, Alexis Taylor, and Kristopher Hancock; and God-daughter Sirena Howell Cady.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara A. Stone; his military family Staff Sergeant Charlie L. Sweat and his wife Myrtle Lee Sweat.

Bumgarner Family Funeral Service is serving the Stone family.
