Tommy English, age 76, passed away Tuesday, July 13,2021 at Scotland Memorial Hospital.
A graveside service will be at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at White Creek Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery in Wallace, SC, officiated by Rev. Richard Tyson.
He was born on June 12, 1945 in Scotland County to the late Woodrow and Betty Taylor English, Tommy was a humble and loving man; he never liked to be the center of attention. In life and now in death, he wouldn’t want us to focus on him. He wouldn’t want us to focus on the sadness of his death, but instead focus on the happiness in our lives. He would want us to appreciate each other and cling to the memories he left us with. Although we will miss him, his smile, his jokes, his love, we take consolation in the good feelings of our memories.
Some of his endless hobbies included sitting on a bank fishing, with a pole in one hand and a cigarette in the other. He thoroughly enjoyed being with family, sitting outside and talking about “the good ole days.”
Tommy, we will miss you, but we have so many wonderful memories to hang on to. You were a role model, and a friend. Your guidance and love will carry us through to the end of our days. We love you, until we meet again.
He is survived by his daughters, Carolyn English (Andrew), Gail Dilling (Alan) and Vicky Byrd (Ricky) all of Laurinburg, three grandchildren, Brandi Dilling (James), Calynn Dilling (Sam) and Budgy Tew; three great grandchildren, Bryson Dilling, Braydon Dilling and Memphis Zich; three other children, T.J. Locklear, Layla Locklear, and Joe Locklear that called his PaPa; and two sisters, Lisa Locklear (Matt) of Laurinburg and Susan Dennis of Gibson. He is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Sally English and two sisters, Reggie Jene Smith and Patricia Ann Dennis.
Bumgarner Family Funeral Service and Crematorium is serving the family.
