Tommy Franklin Ellis, 80, passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2022 at Scotland Memorial Hospital.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, May 20, 2022 at Church in the Pines, of which he was a member, officiated by Pastor Crystal Blue. Due to COVID-19, face masks are recommended and please practice social distancing. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Born September 4, 1941 in Robeson County, he was a son of the late Robert and Catherine Smith Ellis. He began his career with JP Stevens and was a Supervisor. A welder by trade, he retired from Butler Manufacturing with 25+ years of service. He enjoyed fishing, watching NASCAR and his Ford truck. An avid outdoorsman, he was often seen on his John Deere lawn mower working in his yard and garden.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Judy Rockwell Ellis of the home; his daughter, Donna Lowery (Al McKenzie) of Laurinburg; grandchildren, Whitney Oberndorf (Eric) of Hayes, VA and Nicki Udelhoven (Craig) of Summerfield, SC; and great grandchildren, Piper Oberndorf, Knox Oberndorf, Hunter Udelhoven, Delaney Udelhoven, Zadie Udelhoven and Gemma Udelhoven.
