Timothy “Tim” Craig Slack, 62, passed away on Friday, January 15, 2021 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital.
A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, January 23, 2021 at New Covenant Church Cemetery in Troy. Officiating the celebration is his life-long friend Carl Burrow, whom was like a brother to him. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, please practice social distancing and wear a mask or another form of face covering. Attendance will be monitored. Tim will lie in state at the New Covenant Church from 1:00–3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Services will be live streamed on our Facebook page.
Born April 15, 1958 in Montgomery County, he was a son of the late John and Jessie McDonald Slack. Tim retired from Southern Correctional Institution after 33 ½ years and his favorite job was working at Drew’s Gas and Go for the past 30 years. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Tim enjoyed spending time with his four dogs; Mia, Winston, Sugar, and Mocha. Those that knew Tim knew he never met a stranger and loved everyone. He loved living life to the fullest and seeing others smile. In the words of Tim, “No matter how hard life gets, always thank God for what you have and no matter what, keep on keeping on”.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Debra Slack of the home; brother, John Slack, Jr, of Troy; sister, Peggy Thomas (Randy) of Chadbourn; son, Timmy R. Slack of Troy; daughter, Nichole A. Slack of Troy; step-children, Joe Almond, Michael Almond, and Brandon Almond; six grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; and a little girl named Charlie who had a special place in his heart.
