Sally was a graduate of the West Montgomery High School Class of 1966. She stayed close with many of her classmates over the years, with several in attendance at her recent birthday party. Sally's professional life was spent serving the people of Montgomery County as Register of Deeds from 1984 until 2000 and then serving as a county commissioner for the next eight years. Sally also worked at FirstHealth Montgomery Memorial Hospital for 10 years.
Sally's greatest love was her husband of 28 years, Dalton. The two shared a devotion to animals, with a soft spot for strays. This love led to many years of dedicated time and energy in caring for those unwanted animals. She nursed many back to health and cared for them until she found just the right home for them.
Sally was instrumental in establishing the spay and neuter program for the county, which has benefited many animals in this county. In 2000, the county officially opened the Sally and Dalton Morris Adoption Center in recognition of their work through the years.
Sally was a staunch Elvis fan and spent many evenings at Elvis impersonator events. Sally loved Elvis’s music, and she always came away with a performance scarf from Elvis. She cherished those times and always had an Elvis trip planned, including one at the time her passing.
She is survived by her brother, Roy Maness (Wanda) of Troy; sister, Sadie Cox of Ramsuer; numerous loving nieces and nephews, and her special fur baby, Louy. In addition to her parents and husband, Dalton, Sally was predeceased by her brother, Gene Maness.
