Roger Leo Brooks

Roger Leo Brooks, age 75, a kind, friendly, and generous man, passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at Morrison Manor.

The family will receive friends Friday, May 12, 2023 from 2:00 – 4:00 pm, at Bumgarner Family Funeral Service and Crematorium. 

Born on February 4, 1948, in Marlboro County, South Carolina, he was a son of the late Pauline Goodwin.

Roger's deep love for his family was evident throughout his life. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Caren Terry Brooks of the home; daughter, Angie Brooks Lewis and her husband, Brian of Laurinburg; special daughter, Kristin Jacobs of Laurel Hill; and grandchildren, Bridget Norton of Laurinburg, Jaydan Jacobs, Kam Jacobs, and Hailey Jacobs, all of Laurel Hill.

Throughout his career, Roger dedicated himself to serving his community. He began as an EMT for Scotland County, where he provided care and comfort to those in need. Later, he became a Deputy Sheriff for Scotland County to ensure the safety and well-being of his fellow citizens. Roger's entrepreneurial spirit led him to become the owner of Rockers Teen Club and Rockers Roller Dome, where he created a safe and fun environment for young people to gather and enjoy themselves. As the Manager of Scotland Inn, Roger continued to demonstrate his commitment to his community by providing exceptional service and hospitality to all who came through the doors. 

Roger's passion for sports and mentorship was evident in his involvement with local youth baseball. As a coach and Babe Ruth representative, he inspired countless young athletes to develop their skills, work as a team, and strive for excellence both on and off the field. Roger's enthusiasm for sports extended to his love of the Arizona Diamondbacks, Dallas Cowboys, and NASCAR.

Roger was truly loved and adored by his family and will be dearly missed.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Scotland Regional Hospice, PO Box 1033, Laurinburg, NC 28353.
