Obituary
Ralph "June" Russell, affectionately known as June, passed on May 1, 2023, at FirstHealth Hospice House in Pinehurst.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, May 4, 2023 at 7:00 pm at Bumgarner Family Funeral Service, officiated by Tony Sedberry. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Born on June 27, 1937, in Montgomery County, he was the son of the late Ralph and Gladys Morris Russell.
He worked in maintenance for the North Carolina Department of Wildlife. One of June's greatest passions was hunting, particularly rabbit and raccoon hunting. He loved to hear his dogs as they chased their game. June's love for his animals and the great outdoors was a central part of his life. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
June is survived by his loving wife, Kay Redwine Russell of the home; daughter, Donna Russell Garcia of Ellerbe; two step-children; brother, Sammy Russell (Cindy) of Mt. Gilead; sisters, Shirley Russell of Troy, Doris Haithcock of Mt. Gilead, Helen Bivens (Steve) of Salisbury, and Mozelle Deaton (Gary) of Mt. Gilead; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and four step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Harry and Tobe Russell.
