Mr. Perry Franklin "Pete" Van Hooser, 73, of 11801 X-Way Road died Saturday, February 24, at Duke University Medical Center.
A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church officiated by the Rev. Jerry Lowry and Nancy Willard.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Toula Yeapanis Van Hooser; three sons, Pete Van Hooser, III of Virginia Beach, VA, Hans Van Hooser of Tarlton, OH, and Tim Van Hooser of Maxton; a daughter, Mary Jo Van Hooser of Chinquapin; his mother, Odessa Smith Van Hooser of Chillicote, OH; a brother, Gary Van Hooser of Kinnikinick, OH; a sister, Sandra Yingling of Chillicote, OH; 8 grandchildren.
Born October 15, 1927 in Kinnikinick, OH, he was also a son of the late Perry Van Hooser. Pete was retired as a Yeoman First Class from the US Navy after 23 years and was a retired automobile salesman. He was also a substitute teacher, a Mason and Shriner, and often played Santa Claus at Christmas time.
Memorials are requested for the First United Methodist Church, 101 W. Church St., Laurinburg, NC 28352.
Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
