Patricia Dunn Gill, affectionately known as Patsy, passed away at her home on August 15, 2023 surrounded by her family.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 18, 2023 at Hillside Cemetery, officiated by Tony Sedberry.
She was born on May 15th, 1943, in Robeson County to the late David Edward Dunn, Jr., and Gertrude Elizabeth Mills Dunn.
Patsy attended Mars Hill and Appalachian State University, where she earned her teaching degree. She was a dedicated and inspiring teacher, instilling a love of learning in countless students throughout her career. But her passion for nurturing others extended beyond the classroom. Patsy was a foster parent, providing a safe and loving home to dozens of babies over the years.
Her interests were as diverse as they were heartfelt. Patsy was a superb cook, renowned for her signature 5-layer caramel cake. She loved to sew and was an avid animal lover. Patsy's life was characterized by her incredible capacity for love and care. Whether she was in the kitchen, the classroom, or caring for a foster child, Patsy's gentle, loving, and kind nature shone through.
She is survived by her husband, Emmett Fitzgerald Gill, Jr., of the home; a daughter, Nicki Gill Letterman, and son-in-law, Michael Jeremy Letterman; grandchildren, Jacob Nicholas Letterman and Carlie Elizabeth Letterman; sister Carol Dunn Blankinship and brother-in-law Leslie Scott Blankinship; niece, Jennifer Riggins Hansen (Jeff) and their children, Morgan and Lillie; and nephew, Wesley Charles Blankinship (Tara) and their children, Brixton and Brielle.
