Mitchell "Mickey" Vaughn Roberts

Mitchell "Mickey" Roberts passed away peacefully and serenely in the early morning of September 3, 2023 at his son and daughter-in-law's residence in Pee Dee.

Mickey enjoyed nature and learning about various subjects including history, manufacturing and natural sciences. While reserved and solitary, Mickey also enjoyed checking up on and chatting with loved ones and demonstrated gratitude, compassion, and patience even amidst the hardest times of his illness. Throughout his life, he demonstrated a level of resilience, strength, and gratitude that will continually serve as an inspiration to his loved ones and those lucky enough to know him. 

As a young adult, Mickey served in the Air Force as a Senior Airman/Sergeant in the 31st Maintenance Squadron, providing essential expeditionary aircraft maintenance overseas during the Vietnam War. He went on to devote his career to aircraft maintenance, working as an aircraft maintenance technician for US Air, Stanly County Airport, Anson County Airport, and finally attaining the position of Director of Aircraft Maintenance at Triad Aviation in Burlington, NC. 

He is survived by his son, Joshua Roberts (Debra) of Mt. Gilead; daughter, April Estrada (Tyler) of Kannapolis; sisters, Gail Robinson (Jimmy) of Mt. Gilead and Terecia White (Ronnie) of Troy; two step-grandchildren; and three step-great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his brother, Milton Roberts; nephew, Richie Parsons; mother, Lois (Roberts) Morrison; and father, Woodrow Roberts. 

No service is planned as the family will be honoring and celebrating his life privately.
