Born May 15, 1956 in Randolph County, he is a son of Jerry Douglas Dickinson of Asheboro and the late Diana Williamson Dickinson. Mike was a member of Grace Baptist Temple Church and a graduate of Wingate College. He was the owner and operator of D-Blaze in Asheboro. Mike was a member of the Asheboro Fire Department for 19 years, a member of the Ulah Fire Department, and he was a Boy Scout and Eagle Scout. He enjoyed spending time at the beach with his family and going to Disney World. He never met a stranger, and always had a smile on his face, and put others before himself. Mike loved his company and that gave him comfort in knowing he had truly helped someone be a little safer. He will be truly missed by his family and friends. He was definitely one of a kind. Mike loved being on the baseball field, especially with Trenton. He was his son, Trenton’s hero and will always be.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Donna S. Dickinson of the home; daughter, Lindsay Hancock (J.R.) of Troy; sons, Trenton Dickinson (Amy Harrelson) of the home and Preston Hannah of Gastonia; grandchildren, Kali Hancock and Timber Hancock; sister, Kim Black (“Bam”) of Asheboro; and a host of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his son, Jeremy Douglas Dickinson.
