Mary Elizabeth (Peyton) Musselwhite

Mary Elizabeth Peyton Musselwhite, 73, went to meet her Savior on Wednesday, May 19, 2021.

A graveside service will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday, May 23, 2021 at Hillside Memorial Park, officiated by Jason Buffkin.  The family will receive friends at the cemetery after the service. Due to Covid-19, all attendees are asked to wear a face mask and also practice social distancing.  

Born December 5, 1947, in Scotland County, she is the daughter of Albert L. Peyton, Sr. of Ocala, FL and the late Dorothy Hill Meldrom.  She retired from the Internal Revenue Service in Raleigh, NC where she was an Office Manager in sales tax.

Along with her father, she is survived by her brothers, A.L. Peyton, Jr. and wife, Diana of Sommerset, KY, Michael Cowdin and wife, Sandy of Raleigh, NC; her sisters, Donna Scrivnor and nephews, Christopher and Allen of the home and Janet Lynn Martindale and husband, Jim of Cedar Key, FL; special nephews, Doug Musselwhite of St. Cloud, FL; and many nephews, nieces, cousins and a host of friends.

In addition to her mother, she is preceded in death by her husband, Linwood Ray Musselwhite, uncle and aunt, Curtis Kersey and Mildred Kersey; sister, Kimberly Gibson; and niece Ashley Baker.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Scotland Cancer Treatment Center, 500 Lauchwood Drive, Laurinburg, NC 28352.

The family would like to thank the staff of Scotland Hospice who helped make Mary’s passing as comfortable as possible, the staff of Scotland Cancer Center for all their love during this period of Mary’s life, and to Bumgarner Family Funeral Service and Crematorium for their love and kindness.
