Known for her green thumb, Mary found solace and joy in working in her yard, tending to her flowers. Mary's home was always a hub of activity and warmth, where visits from friends and family were welcomed. She was a true people person, whose presence could light up a room.

Preceding her in death was her husband of 51 years, Edward Franklin Ellis; her son, Mickey Ellis; her grandchildren, Matt Ellis and Jacob Butler, and her sisters, Julia Byrd and Viola Hardee; and her brother-in-law, Bill Byrd.
