Marion was known for her outgoing personality and love of God. As a woman of strong faith, she held a great compassion for others in need of an assuring word or a supportive hand. She was an avid Holy Bible scholar and taught Sunday School either in NC or FL for decades until the last few years of her life. For many years, on Thursday mornings, she held a Bible Study at the Eldorado Outpost. For twenty-five years, she was a 4-H leader, alongside her husband. Volunteering was a big part of her life and she loved working with young people. She expanded her education and became a Social Worker for Montgomery County for many years. Her passion for helping others continued throughout her life. She adored her family and being a Nana was her greatest joy. As a lifetime traveler, she appreciated hearing other's stories about their lives and the places they had been. She and her husband, Rufus Owen, traveled extensively with their family and all throughout their retirement. Her love of learning, and sharing God’s word never ended.
She is survived by her four daughters, Margaret O. Sanders of Troy, Melinda O. Cagle of New London, Teresa O. Baker and her husband, Clifton of Denton, and Telena O. Gooch of New London; her sister, Molly Kilpatrick Patterson of Bremen, GA; grandchildren, Daniel Sanders, (Jaime Taylor), Janet (Gary) Blackmon, Sabrina (Grant) Gooch, Chris (Andrea) Cagle, Jennifer Buie, Trent (Robin) Baker, Kaitlyn Baker (Craig Kindley), Pamela (Alex) Whitley, Fiorella Baker (Kevin Romeo), Zac Gooch (Savannah Heath) and Jake Gooch (Autumn Cranford); great-grandchildren, Aidan and Erin, and their mother, Melinda, Raegan, Austin, Savannah, Grayson, Bethany, Harley, Eli, John, Rae and Joshua.
