Lowell Russell, 88, passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at his home.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, December 11, 2020 at Love Joy United Methodist Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
Born November 4, 1932 in Montgomery County, he was a son of the late Fentress Russell and Lavinda Lemons Russell. Following his retirement from the United States Air Force, Lowell worked for 20 years at Montgomery County schools as manager of food services. He was a former Montgomery Community College board member, member of First Baptist Church of Troy and former deacon. Lowell also loved family gatherings and loved to go out and eat. He loved his family and friends, and traveling. He enjoyed life to the fullest. Go Cowboys.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Rebecca “Becky” Cox Russell of the home; daughters, Tammy R. Stafford (Lee) and Charlotte R. Hamilton (Deon) of Troy; four grandchildren; Kelly Brady (Houston) of Pinehurst, Emily Harris (Drew) of Troy, Stacey Hardister (Adam) of Denton, and Daniel Hamilton of Troy; two great grandchildren, Laney Harris and Braxton Brady; one brother, Robert Hight of High Point.
Lowell’s remains will lie in repose at the First Baptist Church in Troy from 11:00am – 1:00pm on Friday, December 11, 2020.
