Johnnie Vester Rush

Johnnie Vester Rush, 88, passed away Monday, March 7, 2022 at his residence.

A funeral service will be held Sunday, March 13, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. at Bumgarner Family Funeral Service Chapel, officiated by Rev. C.L. Wall. Burial will follow at Mt. Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Candor with military honors.  Due to Covid-19 restrictions, face masks are recommended and please practice social distancing.

Born August 1, 1933, in Montgomery County, he was the son of the late Thomas and Savanah Baldwin. Johnnie loved playing Gospel music, watching the “Steve Harvey Show”, wrestling, and sitting on his porch. He enjoyed the country life and talking to his family and friends on the phone. Johnnie served in the United States Army in Vietnam and was also a member of the Masonic Lodge.  

He is survived by his son, Michael Anthony Rush of the home; daughter, Samantha Belle Allen of Troy; and step-sister, Jo Anna Wilson of Ellerbe. He is preceded in death by his wife, Donna McLaughlin Rush.
