John Curtis Slagle, 51, passed away on Friday, November 8, 2019 at Atrium Health Stanly.
A funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, November 10, 2019 at the Bumgarner Family Funeral Service Chapel, 620 Albemarle Rd., Troy, NC 27371, officiated by Rev. Bob McCormick and Dr. Neal Jackson. Burial will follow the service at Southside Cemetery. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. until service time at the chapel.
Born December 11, 1967 in Cabarrus County, he was a son of the late Crawford English Slagle, Sr. and Dorothy Curtis Slagle. He was a life-long member of Troy Church of Christ. He loved God, his church people and Scooby Doo. He was a very special, caring and loving person. He loved to sing gospel music, give hugs and shake hands. He also had a saying which he loved, “Hey How You”, and enjoyed going to the front of the church and preaching like his father and brother. He always enjoyed participating in the Special Olympics.
He is survived by his sister-in-law and honorary mother, Judy Slagle of the home; nieces, Stacy and Joey Garner of Seagrove, Diane Slagle of Mt. Gilead and Joann Hilliard of Troy, Cynthia and Crystal Minton; three great nieces, Josie Garner, Leah Hilliard and Kayla D. and Angel Sanchez; one great nephew, Jonathan Saunders and wife Ashley; and two great-great nieces, Ellianna and Novaleigh. He is preceded in death by his brother Crawford E. Slagle Jr., and his sister, Elizabeth Fink.
Memorials may be made to a charity in support of Down Syndrome.
