John Belvin Andrews, 68, of Troy, was called to his eternal home on Tuesday, September 28, 2021.
John was born July 10, 1953 to James Belvin and Janie Andrews. He was a lifelong resident of Montgomery County other than the time he spent serving his country in the United States Navy stationed in Norfolk, Virginia, on the USS John F. Kennedy aircraft carrier. While in the Navy, he traveled across the Mediterranean Sea, putting into port in Spain and Greece. He was a jet engine mechanic on the aircraft carrier and later worked in local industries as a skilled equipment mechanic. John was a current member of American Legion Post 159 in Troy. His favorite past times were being outdoors hunting for arrowheads, panning for gold, fishing, camping, spending time with his family, and his canine buddy, Roscoe.
John leaves behind the love of his life, his devoted wife of 49 years, Betty McIntyre Andrews, his children, Renee Andrews (Phil), Charlene Null (David), and Jimmy Andrews (Amy), all of Troy; grandchildren Emma, Andi, Spencer, Daniel, Bradley, Justin, Garrett, Brianna, James, Justin, Andrew, Waylon, Amber, and Maddison; four step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; his sister, Earlene Dunn Luther of Troy; uncles, James (Cotton) Andrews, Floyd Andrews, and Jesse Andrews; mother-in-law, Virginia Brown McIntyre; sister-in-law, Cathy McIntyre Thompson (Danny), Jamie McIntyre Lariviere (Philip); brother-in-law, Don McFayden, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his son, Johnny Belvin Andrews, his sister Judy Dunn, his sister-in-law, Ann McFayden, and his father-in-law, James McIntyre.
Visitation will be held at Bumgarner Family Funeral Service in Troy on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. A service with military honors will be held on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Troy at 2:00 p.m. Services will be officiated by Rev. Rodney Holmes and Rev. Brantley Moore. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
