Jessie Keys Obituary

Jessie Marshall Keys made her presence known to the world on June 21, 1929 to the late Ben and Lucy McCauley in Montgomery County.  Then on May 3, 2020, the Lord welcomed her home, for she had done her work here on earth, and her heavenly home was complete and waiting for her arrival.

She was educated in the Montgomery County school system.  She was united in holy matrimony to her first husband, the late Lester L. Marshall and her current husband which is Charles Keys.  This union was blessed with eleven children. She was employed at Troy Drapery and Star Hosiery Mill until her retirement.

She grew up in the church and accepted the Lord as her personal savior at an early age.  She was a member at St. Stephen United Church of God in Troy.  Later she joined Faith Tabernacle Deliverance Temple in Orangeburg, SC, under the late Bishop Ronald Brown where she faithfully drove back and forth twice a week for over 20 years with her Sis Geraldine Horne. From 1979 – 1998, Jessie joined Solid Rock Church under the leadership of Apostle D. Dupree where she held many offices, including Evangelist National church mother and Nurse. In September 2019, she was awarded Outstanding Community Leader Award by Montgomery Community College. She later served with both her sons, Pastor Lester Marshall and Pastor Gary Marshall. She traveled all over the world doing her Lord’s work and touched thousands of people. She remained faithful until death.

Those left to cherish her memory are her Children, Evelyn Petway (John) of Troy, NC, Elder Lester Marshall (Louvenna) of Biscoe, NC, Veronica Jackson (Freddie) of NY, Gary Marshall (Susan) of Biscoe, NC, Anthony Marshall (Earlene) of Spartanburg, S.C., Janet Moore (Curtis) of Greensboro, NC, Tommy Marshall (Gladys) of Troy, NC, Jan Marshall of GA; one brother, Alexander McCauley of Belle Glade, FL; three sisters, Ineze Young of Troy, NC, Maxie Marshall of FL, and Willette Latty of Belle Glade, FL; nineteen grandchildren; bonus children from her current marriage; a bonus sister, Costella Marshall; and a host of great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and so many others that affectionately called her mother. She had three children that preceded her in death, Diane Thomas and the Marshall twins; four sisters, Wanna Horne, Betty Jane Young, Mae Catherine McCauley and Geraldine Horne; and brothers, James A. McCauley, Marcell McCauley, and Ben McCauley.
