Jessie Yow Dennis

Jessie Yow Dennis, age 78, of Troy, NC was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven on the evening of Wednesday, April 21. She crossed into the Kingdom peacefully and was ready to be in the presence of Jesus.

Jessie was a faithful servant to God, a dedicated wife, an amazing mother, grandmother and great grandmother and humble servant to all those around her. As in Matthew 5:16, she was a beacon of light for so many others: “In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in Heaven”. She was always the first to lend a hand and the last to leave during a time of need. She was a ferocious protector of family and took every opportunity to instill solid values to help build strong foundations. Her faith and love of the Lord and His work were the cornerstones of her life and is the legacy she left on this earth that will impact her family and friends for generations to come. She will be forever in the hearts of all of those that she touched with her kindness.

Jessie was born on October 1, 1942 in Randolph County to her parents Eugene and Mildred Williamson Yow who preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by sisters Shirley Ford, Martha Brim, Nora Pearce, and brother Jerry Yow. She loved bowling, baking, and especially baking bread. Jessie was an active member at Prospect Baptist Church in Troy, NC.  She loved her church family too.  She was the past President of The Volunteers at FirstHealth Hospital in Troy where she shared her passion of serving others. She enjoyed spending time with her family and especially loved time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Jessie was the beloved wife of Bobby Dennis of Troy, NC for 33 years, much loved mother of her two sons: Dee Pennell (Nikki) of Greensboro, NC and Jeff Pennell (Rhonda) of Newport, NC, cherished grandmother of Cory Pennell (Savannah), Mary Beth Harb (Brad), Courtney Pennell, Tanner Pennell, Cameron Pennell, Maggie Pennell and Taylor Pennell, treasured great grandmother of Brantley and Talleigh Pennell and dear sister of Gene Yow of Chocowinity, NC,  Peggy Thomas of Randleman and Sandra Wyckoff of Lynchburg, VA.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, April 25, 2021 at 3:00pm at Bumgarner Family Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Lee Fish will be officiating the service. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the chapel. Burial will follow at Southside Cemetery.
