James “JD” Dermont Thompson, age 72, passed away Sunday, June 21, 2020 at his home.
A service will be Thursday, June 25, 2020 at 11:00 am under the arbor at Love Joy United Methodist Church officiated by Pastor Mark Forrest. His service will be live-streamed on our Facebook page. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Born October 15, 1947 in Montgomery County, he was a son of the late Richard Dermont and Doris Burns Thompson. He was a US Army veteran and was co-owner of House Doctors.
J D is survived by one son, Rich Thompson of Troy; one daughter, Lauri Kerley of Lexington; two grandsons, Marcus Thompson of Charlotte and Jax Kerley of Lexington; one brother, Johnny Thompson (Cindy) of Troy; partner, Carol Saunders of the home and her extended family, Crystal and Michael Williamson, Kim and Josh Lucas and Kelsey and Jeremy Maness, all of Troy; four grandchildren, McKenzie Williamson, Abigail and Tanner Lucas, Morgan Maness and Lauren Vance (Tyler); three great-grandchildren: Nichole Vance, Natalie Vance, and Bailey Vance. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of thirty-eight years, Vickie Alexander Thompson; and one brother, Charles Thompson.
