James Hurley

James B. Hurley, 92, of Troy died peacefully at his home on Saturday, May 28,2022.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 1, 2022 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Bumgarner Family Funeral Service in Troy.  Burial will be private.

James was a lifelong resident of Troy and was well loved by the community. He served the Town of Troy for 39 years as Town Commissioner and received The Order of the Long Leaf Pine in recognition of his service to the town.  James was a veteran of the US Army and worked in the dairy industry for his entire career. After retirement he worked for First Bank for more than 15 years.

James enjoyed woodworking, working in his yard and fellowshipping with friends. As a member of the Troy Lions Club for more than 50 years, James was very proud of his life of service to others.

He was proceeded in death by his wife of 67 years, Audrey Hurley and son Michael Hurley. James is survived by two sons, Ken Hurley of Kauai Hawaii, and Jefferson Hurley (Celia) of Sydney, Australia; two grandchildren, Michele Hurley of Brunswick GA, and Jeremy Hurley (Lorna) of Hortense GA; two great grandchildren, Chelsea and Tyler Hall of Brunswick GA.
