Hughes Dunn

Hughes Dunn, 89, passed away Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at Atrium Health Stanly in Albemarle.

A graveside service, with military rites, will be held Saturday, November 11, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Liberty Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Dennis Shaw. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.

Born November 22, 1933, in Montgomery County, he was a son of the late Jim and Lorrie Hurley Hunt. Hughes has served in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and was a diehard Ford fan.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Rebecca Dennis Dunn, of the home; daughters, Beverly King and Heidi Dunn of Greensboro; half-sisters, Carolyn Newsome and Frances Harris of Ophir; half-brother, Roy Hunt; grandchildren, Gus King, and his wife, Courtney, of Raleigh, and Elizabeth Winfree of Greensboro; and great-grandchildren, Kristin Sisk and Boone Winfree. He is preceded in death by his brother, Jake Dunn.
