Hazelene Thompson Harris, 89, passed away on Friday, August 16, 2019 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 19, 2019 at Holly Mount Baptist Church in Mt. Gilead, officiated by Rev. Ben Hall. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall one hour prior to the service.
Born January 15, 1930 in Montgomery County, she was the daughter of the late Theo and Nealie McCallum Thompson. She was a faithful member of Holly Mount Baptist Church and her church recently honored her for her many years of service and for serving as the church pianist which she loved to play. She was also an inspector for Montgomery Hosiery Textiles.
She is survived by two daughters, Ginny Shaw and her husband, Paul and Norma Howell and her husband, Donald both of Troy; one son, Tony Harris and his wife, Shirley of Candor; grandchildren, April Shaw Fort, Lori Beth Shaw, Jennifer Howell Cagle, Tiffany Jackson, Chrissy Haynes, Matthew White, and Justen White; great grandchildren, Autumn Beth Cranford, Drew Cranford, Braden Fort, Celia Fort, Mason Jackson, Emma Haynes, Lilly Haynes, Emileigh White, Hunter White, Mason White and Grayson White. She is preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Norman Harris, and her two brothers, J.C. Thompson and Chester Thompson.
