Obituary

Harold Dean Rush, 81, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2023, at Firsthealth Hospice in Pinehurst, NC.

Born on July 1, 1942, in High Point, NC, to the late Lester Warren and Buelah Shelton Rush. Harold was a hardworking individual, committed to his work as a Supervisor for Collins and Aikmen until his retirement.  His military service as a Marine instilled in him a strong sense of discipline and duty, attributes that he carried with him throughout his life.

In his free time, Harold was an active member of the West End United Methodist Church, where he took particular joy in participating in the men's group and attending their weekly breakfast meetings. He also volunteered at the local food pantry, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to helping those less fortunate in his community. His love for landscaping was evident in his beautifully manicured yard, a task he thoroughly enjoyed.

Harold was a man who relished the simple pleasures of life. He had an affinity for good food and greatly valued the time spent with his family and friends.

Harold is survived by his wife, Jane Cagle Rush; and his five children, Melissa "Missy" Fine (Andy) of New London, NC, Melinda "Millie" Mesimer (Danny) of Richfield, Wendy Futrelle (John) of Wilmington, Melanie Horne (Barton) of Greenville, and William Rush (Brooke) of Falling Waters, West Virginia; his stepchildren Jamie Lytton (Amanda) of Troy and Jenny Larson (Bill) of Asheville; grandchildren Cary, Christopher, Derek, Angel, Arianna, Haley, Andrew, Ryan, Sawyer, Ellie, Macy, Landon, Langston, and Mabel; and  great-grandchildren Aubree, Charlie, Lora, Thea, and Avery. He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Jean Haneline Rush, and brother, Darrell Rush.
