Francis "Frank" Makely Obituary

Francis (Frank) John Makely, 62, of Troy, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2022 in Pinehurst, North Carolina.

Francis was born to Francis and Ann Sporer Makely on July 9, 1960.  He was born and raised in Elizabeth, New Jersey, where he spent his childhood and early adulthood until he moved to North Carolina in 1992.

Through the years, you could always find Frank fishing somewhere, whether it would be on weekend trips with his sons, on the pier at the beach or even down the road at a local pond.  Where there was fish, there was Frank.  If you didn’t find him fishing, then he was either working, especially doing tile work, watching a Yankees game, at the beach or on a road trip to see his family in New Jersey.  He was the one always cracking jokes and found the fun in anything happening.

He loved his children more than anything in the world.  He always made sure his sons, Fran and Kevin, did all the things boys are supposed to do, especially playing baseball, being a Boy Scout and camping.  Frank made sure not to miss a beat so he had to coach the boys’ baseball teams and made sure to be their Den Father. The bond he had with his daughter, Megan, is unlike any other; he adored her. That was his “Baby Doll”, his little girl and she could do no wrong in his eyes.  Frank’s beloved dog or third son, Gunner, went everywhere with him, especially on their daily car rides and walks.  Gunner stayed by his side in their recliner watching TV through the end.

Later in life, Frank found his forever love with Angela.  They loved their trips to Myrtle Beach and spending time with her grand babies.  He was a little kid at heart so they fit well together.  A romantic to say the least, from proposing at Christmas time in New York City to always having Angela’s coffee ready for her when she got home from work.  He loved her more than she could ever imagine.

Frank had the biggest heart a man could have. He was a friend to many and if anyone needed anything he was right there, whether they knew they needed it or not.  It was the little things Frank would do that truly showed how much he loved and cared for you.

Frank is survived by his fiancé, Angela Crisco, his daughter, Megan Makely, his sons, Kevin Makely and Fran Makely, his daughter-in-law, Wendi Makely, his brothers Michael Makely (Kristen) and John Makely (Erica), his sister, Alice Makely-Horbal and a numerous amount of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.  He was predeceased by his parents, Francis and Ann Makely, and sister, Jeannette Horbal.
