Elizabeth “Libby” Ann Gentry Pate Chamberlain passed away on Sunday, August 7, 2022 at Autumn Care of Raeford.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at Bumgarner Family Funeral Service and Crematorium Chapel officiated by Rev. Gerold Goins and Rev. Legrande Taylor. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Born August 28, 1933 in Robeson County, she was the daughter of the late Sam W. Gentry and Bertha Jackson Gentry. Libby had worked at BellSouth as an operator, Scotland County schools in the cafeteria and owned Larry’s Restaurant in Wilmington for 30 years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and her favorite pastime was shopping monthly at Belk. Libby loved going to the mountains and playing Bingo.
She is survived by her children, Debbie Cannon of Wilmington, James Archie Pate, Jr. (Cindy) of Savannah, GA, Michael W. Pate (Marty) of Hoffman, Larry B. Pate (Pat) of Laurel Hill, Keith Gentry Pate (Tammy) of Laurinburg, Donald C. Pate of Laurel Hill and Randy Chamberlain of Laurinburg; Nineteen grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; and five nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her two husbands, James Archie Pate, Sr. and Lawrence P. Chamberlain; children, William “Billy” Pate and Robert Chamberlain; four grandchildren; brother, Samuel Jackson Gentry; sister, Sally Gentry Trawick; and daughter-in-law, Gina Chamberlain.
