Elaine Parsons Haywood

Elaine Parsons Haywood, 96, of Troy, passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at UNC Chapel Hill.

 A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, September 21, 2019 at Parsons Grove United Methodist Church, officiated by Vanessa McIntyre.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Born February 24, 1923 in Montgomery County, she was the daughter of the late Clayton and Margaret Sedberry Parsons.  She was a seamstress with United Mills and a member of Parsons Grove United Methodist Church. 

She is survived by two children, Colvin Haywood and his wife, Vivian of Greensboro, and Arlaine Goforth and her husband, Marvin of Troy; one brother, Tilton Parsons and his wife, Jeanette of Troy; grandchildren, Chris Goforth (Kristen), Jennifer Kellam (Jared), great grandchildren, Emma and Elaina Goforth, and Owen and Nathan Kellam; and several nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Arlie Haywood and siblings, Sarah Harris, Walton Parsons, Bois Smith, Blanche Lamonds, Howard Parsons and Leonard Parsons.
