Elaine Cox

Sherma "Elaine" Cox, 77, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2023 at her residence.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at Love Joy Church Cemetery, officiated by Pastor Ron Scott and Pastor Tommy Privette. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

Born on February 11, 1946, in Montgomery County, to the late Sherman Griffin and Annie Pauline Burns Hicks. Elaine was a kind and faith-filled woman who touched the lives of many throughout her 77 years. Elaine was a dedicated and talented hairstylist, owning and operating Elaine's Salon for many years. She took great pride in her work and was well-respected in her field, serving as a former Board Member of the NC State Board of Cosmetology. Elaine was also an active member of Love Joy Church, where she devoted her time and talents to various activities. One of Elaine's favorite hobbies was making prayer blankets for her church, a labor of love that brought comfort and solace to countless individuals over the years. She also enjoyed fishing and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her life.

Elaine is survived by her husband of 57 years, Howard T. Cox of the home; daughter, Kathy C. Williams (Keith) of Troy; sons, Sherman Cox (Sharon), and Russell Cox, both of Troy; grandchildren, Bryan (Lauren), Cynthia (Jeremy), Chelsea (Kevin), Ryan (Courtney), Amber (Ethan), and Kristen (Tristan); and eight great-grandchildren and one on the way. She is preceded in death by her sister, Linda Hacker.
