Dortha Ellen (Greene) Cave

Dortha Ellen Greene Cave, 93, passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at her home.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 16, 2020 at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Rodney Holmes and Rev. William Saunders.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Due to COVID restrictions, please practice social distancing, and all attendees must wear a mask or face covering.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Born August 10, 1927 in Montgomery County, she was a daughter of the late Victor and Martha Parnell Greene.   She was the last surviving child of the family.  She was the oldest member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church and a former employee of the Parks and Recreation Maintenance Department at Sumter, South Carolina.  She enjoyed music, art, gardening, pottery and participating in activities at the Senior Center.  She also loved Bluegrass and traveling.

She is survived by her three children, Sonja Greer (Johnny), Ted Harris and Lois Harris all of Troy; eight grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, fifteen great-great-grandchildren and one step-grandchild.  Dortha is preceded in death by her two husbands, Jack Harris and Ben Cave; and two grandchildren.
