Daris Harris, 78 of Laurinburg, passed away Friday, December 28, 2018 at Morrison Manor.
A funeral service will be 2:00 pm Monday, December 31, 2018 at Gray Pond Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Harold Hunt and Rev. Horace Oxendine. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Born October 5, 1940 in Robeson County, he was a son of the late Wardell and Fronie Dial Harris. He was a farmer most of his life and also worked as a supervisor for McNair Investment Company and also did many construction jobs for the Scotland County Historical Society. He was a lifelong member of Gray Pond Baptist Church. He thoroughly enjoyed family time, riding a lawnmower, doing everything necessary to fix absolutely nothing, but most of all, picking up pinecones on his golf cart.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Queen Esther Brooks Harris of the home; sons, Glenn Ray Harris (Becky) and Christopher Lee Harris (Teresa) both of Laurinburg; daughters, Carrie Lynn Harris Hicks (Ray) of Marston and Fronie Elizabeth Jackson (Vernon) of Laurinburg; brother, Horace Harris (Inez) of Dunn; sisters, Verdie Harding (Bill) and Letha Locklear (Gene) both of Laurinburg and Bertha Lee Oxendine of Rennert; sister-in-law, Katie Harris of Laurinburg; grandchildren, Matthew Harris (Amber), Andrea Brooks (Mark), Aaron Harris, Blake Harris (Melissa), Lyndsey Harris, Tiffini Jenks, Justin Hicks, Megan Hunt, Jordan Hunt (Kaitlyn) and Natalee Jackson; and eleven great grandchildren, Aadyn Jenks, Kaia Strickland, Easton Jenks, Jude, Ezra and Gideon Brooks, Maggie and Micah Harris, Brynleigh and Bladen Harris and Lakelyn Harris. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Paul Harris and Frank Harris, sister, Patty Harris, grandsons, Justin Christopher Harris, Dalton Christopher Harris and Dacota Lee Harris, and step-mother, Maggie Harris.
A visitation will be Sunday, December 30, 2018 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Gray Pond Baptist Church.
