Carolyn McNeill Roper died October 20, 2021 in the old home she loved, surrounded by loved ones.
A graveside service will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 30, 2021 at Spring Hill Cemetery in Wagram.
She is preceded in death by her husband, John A. “Jack” Roper; her parents, Doris Matheson and Hector McNeill; one sister, Flora Kate Hanna; brothers, Hector Buchannan McNeill, Robert Matheson McNeill, Franklin Purcell McNeill and Thomas Alexander McNeill. She is survived by one sister, Doris McNeill Johnston; sister-in-law, Helen McNeill; brother-in-law, Jim Hanna; children, Gwynne Roper Bennett, John Archer Roper and daughter-in-law Janie and William McNeill Roper; three grandchildren, Jeff Roper (Leslie), Suzanne Dakil (Tim), and Ginny Buddenberg (Andrew); step grandson David Bennett; and six great grandchildren, Jordan Roper, Daniel Roper, Austin Dakil, Conner Dakil, Edie Buddenberg, and Sophie Buddenberg.
Carolyn was a lifelong member of Montpelier Church where her great grandfather was one of the first ministers. She graduated from Flora McDonald College in 1943 and was secretary at Wagram School for thirty-three years. Carolyn was active in community activities and loved playing Bridge until her death.
