Carol (Greene) Gibson

Carol Greene Gibson, 84, passed away Thursday, March 17, 2022 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, March 27, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. at New Covenant Church, officiated by Pastor Carl Burrow and Janice Glover. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, please practice social distancing.  

Born June 19, 1937, in Montgomery County, she was a daughter of the late Andrew Franklin and Elma Parks Greene.  Carol was known for her outgoing personality and love for people.  She learned to sing and play the piano at an early age.  She used those talents in the church and was passionate about her music ministry.  Carol was a self-taught seamstress.  She taught sewing classes and enjoyed doing alterations for the community.  She showed unconditional love for her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters, Lequita Rush, Annette Burrow (Carl), and Roslyn Majors, all of Troy; son, Dexter Patrick “Sonny” Gibson, Jr. (Kim) of Troy; sister, Terri Fagg of Troy; seven grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, Pastor Dexter Patrick Gibson, Sr., and her sister, Dawn Speer.
