Bobby Lynn Thompson

The family of Bobby Lynn Thompson is saddened to announce his passing on March 15, 2020 at his home in San Diego, California at the age of 47.

A graveside service will be Saturday, August 1, 2020 at 6:00 pm at Sharon Cemetery, Mt. Gilead. The service will be live-streamed on our Facebook page.

Bobby was born November 15, 1972, and raised in Montgomery County, NC by the late Daniel Robert Thompson and Mary Elizabeth Dennis.  Bobby was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend.  He always put the needs of others ahead of his own, and his life represents his service to others.  He served in the US Navy for twenty years before retiring in 2011, but he didn’t stop there.  After his duty was fulfilled to his Country he remained a valuable asset to the US Navy working as a civilian until his death.  His unrelenting love and zealousness were not just to his Country, but to his family and friends whom he cherished beyond words.  Distance did not matter to Bobby. He always made the time and assured that people knew just how much he loved them.  The feeling was more than reciprocated by everyone around him.  It is not possible to express how much he will be missed.

Bobby is survived by his sister, Mary Ann Thompson of Troy, sister, Constance Thompson Hitt of Candor, sister, Leslie Tilley of Asheboro, brother Michael Allen Thompson of Cape Coral, FL, step-mother, Vicky Thompson of Troy, nephews, Nicholas, Alex, Dalton, Devon, Zachary Gavin and niece Natalie.
