Betty Jean Hardee

It is with profound sadness that the family of Betty Jean Hardee, of Elizabeth City, announce her peaceful passing on Oct. 22, 2023, at the age of 86 years.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children Phyliss Theil, James Robert Hardee, Jr (Wendy Hardee); grandchildren Ashleigh Hardee and Landon Hardee, as well as her dear friend Yvonne Wilson.

She was predeceased by her loving husband, James Robert Hardee; brothers George, Jr.; mother Evelyn Rogers (Rossell) and Father, George Jones.

Betty and her husband, Bob were long-time residents of Elizabeth City, NC. Where they raised their family and were well-known owners of The Mighty Mint. Betty was a huge fan of the Atlanta Braves. She could name all the players and stats and rarely missed a game. Most of all, Betty was a loving Mother and Nana. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and watching them grow. She was selfless and deeply loved.

Betty was a very private person, and to honor her wishes, there will be no formal service. We invite you to celebrate her memory with random acts of kindness.
