Betty F. Jarrett passed away peacefully at home November 30, 2021 surrounded by loving family and caregivers. Betty was born in Chester, SC to the late Eva and Clyde Franklin. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Fred A. Jarrett Jr. and brother C.S. Franklin. Betty also mourned the recent death of her son Fred “Chuck” Jarrett, III.
As a young woman, Betty attended Winthrop College and had a part time career as a social worker. Her proudest accomplishment was as a devoted homemaker, loving wife and mother. Friends and family benefited from her role as a Christian mentor and her powerful prayer list. Her daily devotionals sustained her through life and loss.
Betty is survived by her daughter Cindy Perryman and son-in-law Raymond Perryman of Alpharetta GA; granddaughter Renee Martinez (Julian) of Rocky Mount NC, grandson Fred Jarrett IV of Washington NC and their mother Susan Wilson of Rocky Mount, NC; great-grandsons Luke, Joshua, Noah Martinez; daughter-in-law Janet Jarrett of Point Harbor NC; and favorite nephews Mike, Tim, and Pat. The family is thankful for Dot, Laura, Beatrice, Estella, Jennifer, Joanne, and Robin. They were Betty’s caregivers and our angels on this earth.
Betty left a poem for us she saved from an article years ago.
“When I quit this mortal shore
And mosey ‘round this earth no more
Don’t weep, don’t sigh, don’t grieve, don’t sob;
I may have struck a better job.
Don’t go and buy a large bouquet
For which you’ll find it hard to pay.
Don’t stand around me looking blue,
I may be better off than you!”
A graveside service will be held at 1:00pm Friday, December 3rd at Chester Memorial Gardens, 945 W. End Rd, Chester SC 29706.
