Alfred Jerry Minor passed away in Mt. Gilead, NC on November 1, 2021 at the age of 77. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on April 17, 1944 to Irene (Pfister) and Alfred J. Minor. “Jerry” grew up in East Meadow, NY and joined the U.S. Navy in 1961. He proudly served as a helicopter mechanic on aircraft carriers, including the USS Enterprise, during the Vietnam War. He achieved the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer and became an instructor prior to his retirement in 1981. Jerry was stationed in San Diego, CA for most of his career and moved to Mt. Gilead, NC after his retirement.
Jerry had a love for the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and hiking, exploring beaches and forests. He shared a deep respect for nature and a solid work ethic with his three children. He valued the opportunity to travel the world on his military cruises, notably Japan, the Philippines and the Virgin Islands.
Jerry was predeceased by his son, Timothy S. Minor; his parents, and younger brother Gary Minor. He is survived by his former wife, Patricia (Gengler) Minor of San Diego, CA; and daughters Linda D. Mulvey and her husband Timothy of Syracuse, NY and Dr. Sandra L. Bulmer and her husband, Steven Bulmer of Cromwell, CT. Jerry was especially proud of his granddaughters, Caitlin (Mulvey) Chiera, Erin Mulvey and Jenna Bulmer. He is also survived by his sister, Arlene (Minor) Fotopoulos and her children, Nadine and Chris Fotopoulos as well as Chris’s wife, Danielle, and their sons, Christopher, Theo, Angelo and Nicolas, all of Hicksville, NY; and his brother’s children Michael Minor, his wife Kerry, and children Tristan and Reilly and James Minor and family.
Services will be held on Saturday, November 27th, 10:00 AM at St. Raphael’s Church 600 Newbridge Rd. East Meadow, NY with interment to follow in Pinelawn Cemetery.
