Mrs. Zether Oxendine "Zedith" Locklear, 83, of Bryant Circle died Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at her home.
Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Thursday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium Chapel. Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. Thursday and following the service at the funeral home.
She is survived by three sons, Billy Locklear, George Locklear and wife/special daughter-in-law, Helen, and Albert Locklear of Maxton; five daughters, Betty Cougill and husband, Terry of Virginia, Louise Graham and husband, Junior of Lumberton, Lenora Locklear and husband, Rawhide of Laurinburg, Lori Talley and husband, Jerry of Red Springs, and Sandra Clark of South Carolina; a brother, J. C. Oxendine of Virginia, two sisters, Flora Clark of Laurinburg and Thelma Sampson of Bennettsville, 15 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Lloyd Locklear.
Born May 19, 1926 in Marlboro County, she was a daughter of the late Gus and Fannie Bell Oxendine and widow of the late Dennis Locklear. She later moved to North Carolina, married, and began raising her family, and working on a tobacco farm. She enjoyed reading newspapers and doing puzzles, but her life centered on her family and children. She had a very special bond with her sister, Flora.
