Mrs. Zennie Baxter Deaton, 89, of 1207 Atkinson Street died Saturday, April 3, at Scotland Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium Chapel officiated by the Rev. David Richardson. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery.
Born March 24, 1910 in Asheville, she was a daughter of the late Joseph T. and Arizona White Baxter and widow of the late Lacy Thomas Deaton. She was a retired sales clerk for Z. Anthony and later Rastom's stores in Laurinburg.
She is survived by three sons, Joe Deaton and his wife, Alice, of Ocean Isle Beach, Richard Deaton and Ronnie Deaton and his wife, Faye, of Laurinburg; a daughter, Barbara Catts and her husband, Ross,of Higginsville, MO; 9 grandchildren, Joe Deaton of Raleigh, Angie Usher of Tatum, SC, Tina Glansberg of Hollywood, FL, Donna Andrews of Laurinburg, Donovan Deaton of Fletcher, Katrina Harvill and Richard Catts of Pamplico, SC, Ronnie Catts of Higginsville, MO, and Tommy Catts of Maryland; and 12 great grandchildren; Allison Glansberg, Sarah and Barbara Harvill, Daniel Williamson, Ricky, Nicholas Catts, and Adam Catts, Megan Deaton, Hunter and Adair Usher, Chuckie Andrews and Chris Deaton.
