Winfred Eugene Lemonds

Winfred Eugene Lemonds passed away peacefully at his residence on February 23, 2025, at the age of 85.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, February 27, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Stoney Fork Baptist Church in Mt. Gilead, officiated by Rev. Dwight Mabry. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Born on January 10, 1940, in Montgomery County, to the late Garland and Beulah Richardson Lemonds. Winfred enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved making memories with them at the beach. Winfred was looking forward to meeting his great-grandchild, who is expected to arrive in August.

At the age of 15, Winfred bought his first house. In 1988, he started his own business named Lemonds Storage. At the age of 59, Winfred retired from public work, and he began collecting antique clocks as a hobby.

Winfred's commitment to his community was evident through his more than fifty years of service with the Montgomery County Rescue Squad. His tireless work and selfless spirit made him a pillar of strength and reliability to those in need. His devotion extended to his spiritual life as well, where he was a member of Long Hill Baptist Church for over forty years.

He is survived by his sons, Tracey Lemonds (Dyan) and Todd Lemonds, both of Troy; grandchildren, Nathan (Ivey), Matthew, and Audrey; brother, Lonnie Lemonds of Troy, and his longtime special friend, Mary Braswell. He is preceded in death by his wife, Linda Smith Lemonds; and siblings, Guy Lamonds, Oscar Lemonds, Sudie Stoker, and Charlie Lemonds.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 26, 2025 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Bumgarner Family Funeral Service in Troy.
