Mr. Willie Harris "Bootsie" Grooms, 78, of Lauder Street died Monday, April 17, at his home.

A graveside service will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Hillside Memorial Park officiated by the Revs. Opie Swails and Don Malpass.

He is survived by one son, Willie Grooms, Jr. and wife, Joyce of Laurinburg; two daughters, Patty Gail Grooms of Laurel Hill and Patsy Peele and husband, Harold of Laurinburg; one sister, Dorothy Lockey of Laurel Hill; two grandchildren, Susan Wagner and husband, Ronnie and Robin Moser; three great grandchildren, Tahler and Logan Wagner and Baileigh Moser. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith English Grooms and his brother Clifford "Nick" Grooms.

Born July 11, 1927 in Scotland County, NC, he was a son of the late Elbert and Allie Clark Grooms. He served in the US Navy during WWII and the Korean Conflict and was a retired employee of Morgan Mills.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Scotland County, PO Box 1033, Laurinburg, NC 28353.

Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
