William Blanchard Trollinger

William Blanchard Trollinger, age 86, died in Greenville, South Carolina on Thursday, December 15, 2016 surrounded by his family.  Born July 31, 1930, in Laurinburg, NC, he was the son of the late Clyde Alexander and Jean Lindsay Trollinger.

Bill graduated from the NC State University program for Furniture Manufacturing and Management in 1952, and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.  Following a long career in furniture manufacturing management, he retired in Lexington, NC in 1996.  He enjoyed playing golf, woodworking and wood carving in his spare time.  He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Lexington, NC and faithfully shared his kind and generous spirit through numerous volunteer activities, including Meals on Wheels, Habitat for Humanity and the Lexington Men’s Shelter.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Peggy Lou Ormsby Trollinger; along with three children; William Blanchard and Julie Trollinger of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Jean and Earle Harding of Greenville, SC, and Mark and Kristin Trollinger of Charlotte, NC; 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Elizabeth Boyles of Mount Airy, NC and many other loving relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, January 7, 2017 in Laurinburg, NC at the McDougal Funeral Chapel on 305 East Church Street with Craig Ormsby officiating.
