William M Roper

William “Bill” McNeill Roper, 69, died Friday, November 18, 2022 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at Spring Hill Cemetery, officiated by Dr. Patricia Ramsden and Dr. John A. Roper.

Born March 4, 1953, he was the son of the late John Archibald Roper and Carolyn Allen McNeill Roper.  Bill was a wonderful and talented artist.  He loved the old McNeill home place and enjoyed music; especially David Bowie.   Bill’s constant companion was his dog, Candy, along with Leroy and Greta, his other pets.  Ginny will forever be thankful that he was able to meet and spend time with his granddaughters.

He is survived by his daughter, Ginny Roper Buddenberg and son-in-law, Andrew Buddenberg; granddaughters, Eden Elizabeth Buddenberg and Sophia Rosalind Buddenberg; brother, John A. Roper and his wife, Janie Roper; sister, Mary Gwynne Roper Bennett; nephew, Jeff Roper (Leslie Roper) and great-nephews, Jordan Roper and Daniel Roper; niece, Suzanne Roper Dakil (Tim Dakil); great-nephews, Austin Dakil and Conner Dakil; aunt, Doris Whyte Johnston; and close cousins, Ruth Patterson, Deedee McNeill, Peggy Johnston, Libby Fowler and Carol Wright.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, 424 E. 92nd Street, New York, NY 10128.
