William David Morris

William Davis Morris, 85, passed away on Monday, June 3, 2019 at his residence.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, June 7, 2019 at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Rodney Holmes and Rev. Ben Hall.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard.

Born July 2, 1933 in Montgomery County, he was the son of the late Melton and Mollie Williams Morris. Before serving in the Air National Guard for 8 years, he was a US Air Force Veteran and also served in the Korean War. He attended Tennessee Tech and Montgomery Technical Institute now known as Montgomery Community College where he studied Accounting. He was a supervisor in the Stitching Department at McRae Shoe Factory before retiring with 53 years of service. He served as a past deacon and Sunday school teacher of Wadeville Baptist Church and also as a Sunday school teacher at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. Mr. Morris was also a past President of the Wadeville Lions Club and he was the first Fire Chief at Wadeville Fire Dept. He loved old cars, junk, tools, and woodworking. His best dog was Little Man.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Barbara Hurley Morris of the home; a daughter, Angela M. Morris and her husband, Brad of Mt. Gilead; a son, William David Morris, Jr. of Mt. Gilead; three granddaughters, Abigail Stanley, Hope Davis and Hadley Morris; and a sister, Sylvia M. Jordan of Mt. Gilead.

Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 6, 2019 at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.

Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
