William Yancy Collins, Sr.

William Yancy Collins, Sr. 54, passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at his home in Laurinburg.

Born on January 19, 1971, in Scotland County, he was a son of Deborah Covington Chavis and the late James William Collins. William was a man of simple joys. He loved cheering for his two favorite teams, the North Carolina Tarheels and the Atlanta Braves.

William is survived by his children, William “Will” Yancy Collins, Jr. of Atlanta, GA; his daughter, Stella Collins, of Laurinburg; his mother, Deborah Chavis (Al Layton) of Sanford, NC; and his two aunts, Cindy Fournier (Wayne), of Garner, NC and Elizabeth Covington, of Michigan.
