William Walter "Bill" Pearson, 91, died Monday, February 24, 2014 at his home.
Graveside services with Military Honors will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Pine Crest Cemetery.
He is survived by his son, William G. Pearson of Charleston, SC; his daughters, Karen Pearson and Sharon Bowden (Jimmy) of Laurinburg; his brother, Jack Pearson of Hamlet; five grandchildren, Debbie P. Ziegler, Cindy P. Falls, Kristi B. Menotti, Ashley Bowden, and Pamela B. Brisson.
Born December 31, 1922 in Marlboro County, SC he was a son of the late Zeb V. and Virginia Graham Pearson and widower of the late Myrtle Martin Pearson.
He served four years with the US Navy Medical Corps in Pacific Operations during World War II. Following the war he served 37 years with Z. V. Pate, Inc., Gibson, retiring as the General Manager. He also served 16 years as the Mayor of the Town of Gibson, as a trustee for Scotland Memorial Hospital and the Scotland County Board of Mental Health. He also served as a licensed funeral director for Harold Odom Funeral Home and later McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
