William Walter 'Bill' Carraway

Mr. William Walter "Bill" Carraway, 84, of 3257 Academy Road died Thursday, April 8, at Hamlet Hospital in Hamlet, NC

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Pine Grove United Methodist Church officiated by the Rev. Carl Hunsucker.

Burial will follow in the Adams-McGregor Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Eutha A. Carraway; two daughters, Mattie Frank Carraway of the home and Betty C. Lee of Asheboro, NC; three brothers, Arthur Carraway of Snow Hill, NC, E. R. "Pete" Carraway of Greenville, NC, and Ben Carraway of Raleigh, NC; a sister, Pattie Carraway of Snow Hill, NC; two grandchildren, Betsy Lee and Charlie Lee of Asheboro, NC.

He was born October 2, 1914 in Greene County, NC and was a son of William J. and Dora Shingleton Carraway. He graduated from Snow Hill High School and attended the University of North Carolina. He was a farmer for most of his life, however he served on the NC Highway Patrol, attaining the rank of Corporal and was employed in the Compliance Section of the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service, US Department of Agriculture, from which he retired.

He was a member of Pine Grove United Methodist Church, which he served as treasurer for many years.
